Nokia is the world’s biggest mobile manufacturer.  The company has filed a lawsuit against Apple declaring the iPad 3G and iPhone infringe five of its patents. Nokia claims the violations include technology utilized to improve speech and antenna innovations for compact devices.

This is the newest salvo in what seems to be an unending legal battle between the two big companies. Nokia and Apple are involved in another disagreement regarding the iPhone.

In a statement, Nokia said that during the past two decades the company has invested about $51bn (£34bn)  in its research and development and has rounded up 11,000 copyrights.  According to Paul Melin, general manager of patent licensing at Nokia, they have taken this step to protect the results of their pioneering development and to put an end to continued unlawful use of Nokia’s innovations.

Nokia company filed a lawsuit on the day Apple announced that its iPad tablet computer will go on sale in nine different countries outside the U.S. on May 28.
